Obituary of Dorothy Joan Reeder

Dorothy(Dolly) J. Reeder, age 86, resident of Sewell, NJ passed away at home surrounded by her loving family peacefully on November 18, 2021.

Legacy

Dolly was born on April 11, 1935 in Camden, NJ. She was the daughter of Jesse and Anna (Staepel) Everhart. She enjoyed every moment of life. She loved and cherished spending as much time as she could with her best friend and sister, Mary Shillings who survives her. Dolly was a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone, a receptionist and a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. She was a dedicated military spouse and a lifelong member of the Military Officers Association of America. She loved spending time with her family and through her own example, encouraged us all to always live life to its fullest.

Beloved wife of James L. Reeder (Jim); devoted Mother of William J. Penton, James Reeder (Patricia), Steven Reeder, and daughter-in-law JoAnn Hamburg (Geoff); Loving grandmother to Kristina Bell (Robert) and Jennifer Sottosanti (Gary); Great-Grandmother to Martha Litardo(Andrew Gudz), Brandon and Caroline Bell; Great-Great-Grandmother to Aaron, Owen and Gavin Gudz.

Farewell Service

A Celebration of Dolly’s life will take place December 3rd at 12:00 to 1:30 pm at McGuinness Funeral Home 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080; where her Memorial Ceremony will follow at 1:30 PM. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Dolly’s memory be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 200 Lake Drive East, Suite 205 Cherry Hill, NJ 08002. Donations will allow hospice patients in need to receive the care and dignity they deserve.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and love to the entire care team at Lighthouse Hospice. She enjoyed their company and benefited from the care each team member provided during her end of life journey. A special thanks is also extended to Judy John who not only cared and supported all of Dolly’s needs, but her family’s too.
