Obituary of Paul B. Wagner

Paul Burnham Wagner, 67, Fayetteville, New York, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021

 

Legacy

Paul was a life-long resident of Fayetteville and cherished its history. He resided in the family home in the historic district where he maintained and preserved the heritage of the house during the past 30 years. 

 

Paul attended Fayetteville-Manlius High School and SUNY Morrisville.  He worked in past years as a house painter, landscaper and did masonry work, including building beautiful stonework terraces and patios for his mother’s extensive gardens.

 

An avid outdoorsman, Paul could tell you where to find the best wild berry patches and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He looked forward to each berry-picking season and always shared a few quarts with neighbors and made wonderful pies.  He inherited his love of gardening from his mother and, like his father, he proudly kept the sidewalks clear of snow for the “elderly neighbors” no matter the time of day or dead of night.

 

A diabetic since childhood, Paul was hospitalized last summer for wound care, most recently in New Jersey.  He was surrounded by family when he passed away from complications.   Paul endured many physical and emotional challenges the last few years of his life that affected him greatly...including his relationships with family, friends and village residents.  The family hopes that he will be remembered as his younger best self--the handsome, charming person who loved children and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and especially his older neighbors.

 

Family

Beloved son of the late Bruce and Barbara (nee Ward) Wagner; devoted brother of Deborah Wagner, Brenda Wagner Redmond and Sarah Wagner.  Paul is also survived by several cousins and friends.

 

Farewell Tribute
