Obituary of Hester E. Conley

Hester E. "Betty" Conley (nee Sheilds), 93, of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Legacy

Born in Camden, New Jersey, Betty was a longtime resident of Woodbury and moved to Woodbury Heights in 1967 where she remained until her final days. In her younger years, Betty was switchboard operator for Radio Condenser. Betty and her late husband, James were very involved in the community; Betty and James were honorary Mrs. Claus and Santa in National Park and played on the bowling league.

A very generous and determined woman, Betty was devoted to her family and tending to her home. Holidays were always a special occasion; every room was decorated and the house was the brightest on the street. Anything to draw the kids to her home because besides her own family, children were her passion. Betty was "mother figure" to nieces, nephews and even her children's friends. Nothing was more important than time spent with family whether it was camping trips or day trips to Wildwood or Sea Isle, they were sure to bring a smile and lasting memories.

Beloved wife of the late James E. Conley; devoted mother of Jim "Buckie" (Libby), Betty Lee, Ed (Carla) and Rob (Kathryn); loving grandmother of Carrie Ann, Kristie, Belinda, Vicki, Darin, Toni, August, Angela and great-grandmotheer of Lester, Brandi, Brianna, Amber, Christopher, James F., Madelyn and many great great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her brother, Richard P. Sheilds and many loving nieces and nephews.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Betty's viewing on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096 where the Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
