Mary was a beautiful person inside and out. I knew her from OLOL while I worked there and then, again, at my church, Church of the Holy Family. She was there at Stephen’ s Ministry when I went to the grief group after my husband died. Heaven has a new, beautiful angel. She will be sadly missed. RIP.

Mary Matthew's, I knew of her before I knew her. Mary was someone I instantly admired for her compassion and advocacy for all nurses. She was part of a small force of nurses who initiated support groups for nurses struggling with addiction. I got to know Mary as we traveled to Pennington for our Peer Facilitator Meetings. Mary has helped countless nurses over a lifetime of dedication, earnestness, and caring. I feel blessed to have worked with her and to have her as a friend. You could always here the lilt of happiness in her voice when she said, Hi, how are you? Mary will be missed. Many wonderful memories of Mary will be in our hearts Pat McGann

I can’t explain it, but I guess that is why Mary was so special. She was the perfect mix of compassion and tough love. Her laugh was contagious. We were definitely soul sisters and even though we weren’t in touch often I knew she was there. I know she is still there watching over her family and all the people she touched. We are just passing through so until we meet again Mary Rest In Peace and dance dance dance!

I met Mary working with employee assistance at OLOL. She immediately welcomed me with open arms. overtime she was always there even in the darkest of moments. she never judged me but taught how to accept life on life's terms and rely on God. she will always be in my heart. She will always be with your family.

My cousin Mary was the beautiful flower girl in 1950 in the Queens Village wedding of my parents Helen and Joe Keating. Though many years and miles were between us, I am blessed to have had Mary as my most cherished cousin. She was the sweetest person with the most generous heart that ever graced this earth. Her devotion to her family and her selflessness were qualities I always admired in Mary. What I also loved about Mary was her humility; she never sought attention—or thanks—for her many quiet acts of kindness. What I treasured about Mary was her unstinting perspective, which blended realism with a unique compassion. Mary was no fool, and we shared too few but hours’-long phone calls colored by her self-described “wicked” sense of humor; I loved her distinctive laugh, which came so easily! Mary brightened my life with her sunny outlook, and while my days will be cloudier now since her passing from this earth, I know that heaven will be that much brighter now that she is there. So much love to the Matthews’s family. I am forever grateful to all of you. Mary was like a second mother to me. She gave me so much motherly love that now looking back I had desperately needed and cherished. I could talk to her all day. She inspired me to become a nurse…25 years later, I am still at it. Thank you my beautiful Mary. Your name suited you like the Mother Mary. You embodied her in all your ways.
