Obituary of Josephine Makuch

Josephine Makuch (nee Purul), 100, of West Deptford, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Legacy

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a young girl, Josephine worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard.  Josephine and her love, Nester, moved to Marlton in 1952 and bought their first home in the Cramer Hill section of Camden.  They were active members of St. Anthony of Padua Church and the Golden Club Senior Citizen Club.  They made many friends and filled their time with travelling.  Josephine lived with her daughter Susan and her husband, William for the past 31 years.

A caring and nurturing woman, Josephine learned these traits early taking care of her seven younger siblings.  This only helped her ability to be a loving mother and treat anyone in her home as a part of her family.  She was a wonderful cook and everyone will miss her rice pudding.  With her feisty nature, Josephine loved to get her way.  She enjoyed playing bingo, and trying her luck at the casinos.  

Family

Beloved wife of the late Nester Joseph; loving mother of Susan (William) Holley; dear sister of Helen (Frank) Ferriola, Thomas F. (Lynne) Purul and the late John, Dorothy Barrett, Rose Andruschuk, Christine Murray and Joseph J. Purul.   Josephine is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Josephine's viewing on Monday, November 21, 2022, 9:45 - 10:45 AM at Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret's RC Church, Third and Beech Streets, Woodbury Heights, NJ where the Mass will follow at 11:00 AM.   Interment at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
