Obituary of Helen M. Leonhardt

Helen Leonhardt, 88, of Woodbury, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 14, 2023.

Legacy

Helen (Honey) was born in West Philadelphia, the oldest of 7 children. She excelled at school and was able to take college level courses during high school. To help support her family of 8, she went back to finish college taking the commuter train from Woodbury to Glassboro College (now Rowan University) in the evenings to obtain her teaching certification. She taught elementary school at St. John Catholic School for 25 years. Helen loved to read classic novels and watch Agatha Christie mysteries on television.

Family

Loving wife of the late Earl Leonhardt, beloved mother of Robert (Debbie), Dave (Barb), Tom, Paul, Christine (Russ) and the late Steve “Duke”; cherished grandmother of David and Brian; Bobby and Chelsea; Patrick; Tommy, Tyler, Brendan and Emily; Joe, Ben and Rusty; Abigail and Annabel. Helen loved baby sitting her grandchildren. The grandkids have fond memories of her, especially the fun sleepovers with all their cousins. She was an example of how to live with integrity, honesty, generosity, courage and love.

Farewell Tribute

Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday August 22nd from 9:00AM to 10:00AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home- Woodbury Location) 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Funeral Mass at 10:30AM in Holy Angels Parish at St. Patrick's Church, 86 Cooper Street Woodbury, NJ 08096. Interment to follow in Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Williamstown NJ.
