Obituary of Joy P. Love
Joy Ann Photiades Love went to her heavenly Father on Sunday October 15, 2023. She was 84 years old.
Legacy
Joy was born in Philadelphia to George and Lena (Jaudes) Photiades. She attended West Chester College, earned a Bachelor of Science in secondary education, and taught junior high and high school for many years before retiring from Gateway Regional High School in Woodbury Heights.
In Dec 1962, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Love. In Dec 2022, they celebrated 60 years of marriage in Southern Pines, NC, where they moved to in July 2022 to be closer to their son Chris and his family. They were surprised by a family dinner at their new home at Pine Knoll retirement community and a card shower sent in by her many wonderful friends.
In her early years, she enjoyed painting and left beautiful works for her family to enjoy as well as sewing, and square dancing. She also enjoyed supporting her three sons in all the many sports they participated in over the years.
She loved Siamese cats, which were a part of her family from an early age. She also loved jewelry and anyone who knows her know she was always wearing earrings, necklaces and a variety of rings and bracelets – a very classy woman. In addition, she loved all things purple and lavender.
After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with Dick, especially cruising. She mentioned many times how glad she was to have the opportunity to see so many amazing places (and pick up new jewelry!). She also enjoyed crocheting, her gourmet cooking group, church activities and she was an avid reader.
Family
Dick, who passed in July of this year and her sons Rick Love and David Love, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Christopher and wife Tammy, grandchildren Kara Love, Andy Love, Jason Love, Nicole Love, Tyler Love and Matthew Love and great-grandchildren Sofie Bushway and Aiden Love.
