Obituary of John J. Phelan

John J. Phelan, of DEPTFORD, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the age of 71 after his long battle with cancer. Jack is a proud family man who was always totally devoted to his wife, Linda, of almost 47 years and his children, Pamela and Jack. He is a veteran of the United States Army and proud member of the 82nd Airborne Div. Jack was an avid union man, Teamster member for 35 years! he has been a loyal long time Philadelphia Flyers fan. Riding his Harley Davidson was always his best way to spend an afternoon unless he had the opportunity to spend quality time with his 3 grandchildren then it was definitely play-time! They have always been the light in his life! Road trips, watching Jack play hockey, tv watching, going to the pool, Halloween, Disneyworld, date nights with Linda, even after 47 years, snuggling with the grandgirls and hot dogs....a few of his favorite things! He is the always supportive and proud father to daughter, Pamela (Anthony Cappello) and son, Jack (fiancé Amanda Carlson) , big brother to William (Patty Phelan), Judy (Jim Green),and Kelly (Carlos Ferrer). Jack is a loving, generous and funny granddad to his 3 amazing grandchildren Aiden, Vienna, and Lily Cappello. Predeceased by his mother Joan (nee Finney), and brothers Mark, Wayne, and Stephen Phelan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation at McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell NJ 08080 from 10am - 12pm, followed by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel at 12pm, processing to Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Park in Williamstown, NJ.
