Obituary of Joan Schumacher
Joan Schumacher (nee Coan), passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. She was aged 85 years.
Legacy
Joan was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse for Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Washington Twp. Joan and her husband John shared 47 years of marriage and raised eight children together before he passed away in 2008. Joan will be fondly remembered as a woman who was passionate about her family and devout to her Roman Catholic faith. She was a parishioner at Saints Peter & Paul R. C. Church for more than 50 years and was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Choir. Joan was a selfless servant to her community and her family. She was a Eucharistic Minister for the parish and enjoyed visiting the sick and distributing communion to the patients in the hospital. Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking them on many adventures, including her visits to Sherwood Forest MD. She was an enthusiastic supporter and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She loved her home and enjoyed working on her garden, reading her Bible and praying the Rosary. She was an avid baker and her desserts were always requested at family parties. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joan is the beloved wife of the late John S. Schumacher, Jr.; Devoted mother of Margie Maccarone, John M. Schumacher (Kristen), Linda Zytynski (John), Sandra Kane (Robert), Andrew Schumacher, Steven Schumacher (Cynthia), Jeanne DiCicco (Mike) and Christina Coury (Gerard); loving grandmother of Nick, Alyssa, Eric, Nicholas, Julia, Elena, Kate, Christian, Gabi, Kyle, Anna, Jessica, Jack, Jake, Emma, Brooklyn, Kendall, Olivia and Morgan; Great Grandmother of Juliana and John; dear sister of Catherine McCarthy, Thomas Coan, John Coan, and the late Carl Coan, Patricia Fitzmaurice, Ralph Coan, Gerry Coan and Mary Jo Coan.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joan's viewing 6:30 to 9:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2024 and 11:00 AM-12:15PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road, (Sewell) Washington Twp. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 1:00 PM in Saints Peter & Paul R. C. Church, 362 Ganttown Road, Turnersville, NJ.
