Obituary of James F. Taylor
James F. Taylor of Sewell, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25th at the age of 95.
Born to G. Morton and Mabel (née Kelly) on March 30th 1928 in Saratoga, NY where he lived with his siblings the late Barbara Towle and the late John(Helen) Taylor until he was 14. During WW II he and his family moved to Wethersfield, CT where Jim graduated from Wethersfield High School. Shortly after high school he met the love of his life Gloria who was attending UCONN. The two met on a blind date at a Sadie Hawkins Dance. They were married Sept 9th 1950 and had two sons, Stephen and Richard. Jim and Gloria spent 67 loving years raising a family, working, traveling, volunteering and devoting their faith to the Lord together until Gloria passed away in 2017
Jim’s career took them from Hartford, to Harrisburg, to Allentown, to Stratford, and to Reading. Jim spent his last years in Sewell NJ. With all of their moves Jim & Gloria were always very active in the Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed camping, Scouting, golf but mostly spending time with his family. Jim’s senior years were filled with many volunteer jobs.
Jim is remembered lovingly by his sons Stephen (Joann) and Richard (Sheryl), grandchildren Kelly (Josh) Thomas of Fowler, OH, Megan (Tim)Swavely of Spring City, PA, and Jamie (Jamie) Taylor of Odessa, FL. and six great grandchildren. Sister in law, Nancy Horsfield of Dayville, CT and many nieces and nephews in CT and Chicago.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim’s Memorial Service on February 10th at 2:00pm. Service to be held at First Presbyterian Church of Pitman NJ at 10 Wildwood Ave, Pitman NJ.
