Obituary of Loretta D Schmidt

Loretta D Schmidt, (nee Schiavo) of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She was 88.

Legacy

Loretta was born in Philadelphia, PA to Dorothy and Emil Schiavo. She moved to Woodbury, NJ as a child and graduated from Woodbury High School with the Class of 1953 where she was a member of the National Honor Society and a Cheerleader for the Championship Football team.

Loretta attended Pierce Business College and the American Institute of Banking and was employed in banking until marrying and raising her children. She resumed her career working in the Woodbury Public Library, the Woodbury Public Schools and the Gloucester County Bar Association. Loretta was a lifetime member of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, was a parishioner of St. Patrick's R.C. Church and volunteered for many organizations in the county.

Loretta is the beloved wife of 68 years to Donald R. Schmidt, Sr.; loving mother of Donald R. Schmidt, Jr (Deborah) and Laurie Laurer (Theodore); cherished grandmother of Morgan Schmidt, Stephen & Tyson Laurer; dear sister of Frances McCool.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Loretta's visitation at 8:30AM to 9:30 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2024 where Words of Remembrance will follow at 9:30 in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in Holy Angels Parish at St. Patrick's R.C. Church, 86 Cooper Street, Woodbury In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Parish, 86 Cooper Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
