Obituary of Andrew Joseph Doto

Andrew J. Doto of Mantua, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2024 at the age of 100.

Legacy

Born to the late Luigi and Antoinette (nee Deltito) Doto on September 28th, 1923. Andrew is the youngest of eleven children. He will be reunited with his predeceased siblings Michael (Frances), Concetta (Anthony), Martin (Philomena), Rocco (Josephine), Francis (Eva) Benjamin (Matilda), Charles (Mary), Eugene, Louis (Josephine), and Carrie (Henry). Growing up, Andrew attended Woodrow Wilson High School, moving on to attend Temple University. Andrew met the love of his life, the late Anna (nee Calabrese) at a social event in Camden before parting ways & reconnecting sometime later. Andrew and Anna had so much love between each other, they decided to share it with a family & welcomed their two loving children, the late Louis Doto of Runnemede, and Antonietta of Mantua. The house held many laughs, lots of love, and happy memories growing up. Andrew was enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and served his country in World War II. He was awarded the Victory Medal and American Theater Medal, raising to the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class. As a proud veteran, Andrew would often be found reading books on the military, as well as US Presidents. After being honorably discharged in 1946, Andrew went on to work as a machinist for Wiedemann Division of Warner and Swasey for 42 years before retiring.

After retiring, Andrew and Anna bought a trailer outside of Sea Isle City and spent a lot of quality time together at the shore. Andrew and Anna loved to travel with The Gang on many occasions. Andrew loved spending time with his family and friends, he shared a love of food with everyone around him, often trying new food and always having his glass of wine at dinner. Andrew had a love of Philadelphia sports and to give a helping hand. Often, he would be found fixing something around the house with one of his many tools, or encouraging family members to work on their own projects, occasionally lending a tool for them to work on their own projects.

Family

Andrew is remembered fondly by his loving daughter Antonietta and his daughter-in-law Lois. Cherished "Pop" to his grandsons Richard (Patricia) of Virginia and Daniel (Jennifer) of South Carolina. Devoted "Pop" to Kylie, Bella, Sofia, Hailey, and Harper. Beloved uncle to many loving nieces and nephews.

Tribute

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Andrew's visitation on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 from 9:45am -10:45am at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, Saint Aloysius R. C. Church in Oaklyn. Followed by a funeral mass at 11:00am. Entombment will take place at New St. Mary's Cemtery & Mausoleum located at 515 W. Browning Rd, Bellmawr NJ 08031.
