Obituary of Donald A. Gortowski

Donald "Don" A. Gortowski, Sr., 87, of West Deptford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Legacy

He was a caring father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  Don enjoyed boating and going out to eat with family and friends.  He loved photography and always loved to take pictures.  He was commodore of international Shriners and with Top of Bay Cruising Association, he was a member of the three CCC and Redeye Yacht Club.  To become a commodore he went up the line as Fleet Captain, Rear Commodore, Vice Commodore, and then Commodore.  He was also the photographer for a lot of the events with the yacht clubs.  Don was a machinist and the inventor of the Roto-Crease.

Family

He is the beloved husband of the late Vera Jean Gortowski (nee Zubeck). Devoted father of Mary McElligott, late Donald A. Gortowski, Jr., Thomas Lawler, Jr. (Joan), and Jeanine Lawler-Stalter. Treasured grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 13. Son of the late Charles and Mary Gortowski. Dear brother of the late Charles Gortowski, Richard Gortowski (Marilynn), Margaret Mancine (Ralph), and Lorraine Domanowski (Gregory). He will be greatly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday May 15th at 9:00AM to 10:15AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home - Woodbury, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in Holy Angels Parish at St. Patrick's Church, 86 Cooper Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery Swedesboro, NJ.
