Obituary of Richard Timothy Looby, III

Richard T. Looby, III; a beloved figure in the community of Sewell, New Jersey, passed away on May 22, 2024, at the age of 63. Richard was a cherished husband, father, friend, and pillar of his community.

Legacy

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Richard's heart beat with the rhythm of the city's sports teams. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, with an unwavering loyalty to his beloved teams. Whether it was cheering on the Phillies or Flyers or passionately rooting for the Eagles, Richard's enthusiasm for his teams was infectious, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. Richard's dedication as a Baseball Coach for the local 14 and under team led them to an exciting series in the 2006 Babe Ruth World Series in Wilson, North Carolina. Later in life, he continued his love for the game dedicating much of his time to local Youth Baseball as an umpire. His fair judgment, integrity, and love for the game inspired countless young athletes, leaving an indelible mark on the baseball community. In addition to his passion for sports, Richard was a successful entrepreneur. He formerly owned Texas Wiener's, a cherished establishment in the heart of Philadelphia. He later opened a second location in New Jersey, Yesterdog’s, with a sports and Americana theme. Through his hard work and dedication, Richard created a gathering place where friends and families came together to enjoy good food and create lasting memories. Above all else, Richard will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. While he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to shine brightly through the countless lives he touched.

Family

Richard is the beloved husband of Janet (nee Koss) loving father of Briana Looby and Brendan Looby and his fiancee, Jackie Cuneo; cherished brother of Carol Looby and her husband Fran McGee and uncle to Ciara McGee.

Farewell Tribute
