Obituary of Kathleen Mary Wilson
Kathleen M. Wilson (nee Bishop) of Sicklerville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2024 at the age of 89.
Family
Kathleen was born to the late Clarence and Edna (nee Kerr) Bishop on May 8th,1935 in Riverside, New Jersey. Growing up, Kathleen was one of four daughters to the Bishop family. She attended Palmyra High School as the graduating class of 1953. After graduating high school, Kathleen married the late Joseph Wilson Sr. (1974) and became a mother to her three beloved children, the late Joseph (Anna) Wilson Jr.(2003), Kathleen (Matthew) Bruton, and Karen Saunders. Kathleen’s greatest joy in life was being a mom. As a family, they have many fond memories of camping in Key West, Florida and spending quality time together. Kathleen's world became brighter when she became the cherished grandmother to Joseph, Joanna, Patrick (Shanna), Ryan (Natasha), Stephanie (Joe), Westley (Julia), Josh (Stephanie), and Madison (Alex). When her grandchildren were younger, Kathleen would host large easter egg hunts and Christmas dinners, which everyone always looked forward to. She was also blessed to become a great-grandmother, and even great-great-grandmother. Those that met Kathleen were told about the many accomplishments of her family and how much she loved them.
Tribute
While Kathleen’s children were young, she was always very involved in their lives. She became a Girl Scout Leader for nearly 10 years that allowed her creative and compassionate spirit to run wild. Kathleen loved finding new ways for her Girl Scouts to fundraise and support the community. Her daughters fondly remember Kathleen tending to a large garden and growing all their own vegetables in the summer. Kathleen's compassion for others was rooted deeply in her soul. She would help anyone in need, even if she did not know them. She donated to many organizations such as St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, ASPCA, Wounded Warriors Project, and The American Heart Association. While she was readily available to help any human, she also extended a helping hand to any animal in need. Kathleen helped to rehabilitate wounded animals such as owls, skunks, squirrels and opossums. She took care of them and gave them a chance to heal before returning them to the wild. When she was not helping someone in need, Kathleen was happy to be at ShowBoat Casino in Atlantic City, or gardening at her home where she grew her favorite flower, Zinnia.
Kathleen will be remembered fondly by those who loved her for her gentle, kind, personality, and her love for her family.
