Obituary of Maureen Patricia Bobrek
Maureen Bobrek (nee Campbell) of Deptford, formerly of South Philly, passed away on June 12, 2024, at the age of 60.
Family
Born to the late Paul and Theresa (nee Adams) Campbell on July 30th, 1963, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Maureen attended St. Maria Goretti High School as the graduating class of 1981. While growing up, Maureen lived in South Philly as one of the only Irish girls in the area. She loved her heritage and was very proud of her Irish blood in the sea of Italians. One night, Maureen accepted a blind date, and it changed her life for the better. Maureen met the love of her life, Frank Bobrek, at a local bar. The two ended up talking until closing time, then continued talking in Frank's car until early morning. It was at that moment that Frank and Maureen found a deep connection that only comes once in a lifetime. Maureen valued Frank's honesty, integrity, and friendship. Together they loved spending quality time together, going bowling, and traveling. The two married in December of 1991, spending a loving 33 years together. Maureen and Frank welcomed their two loving children, Francis (Darcy), and Maura (Phillip). Maureen flourished as being a mom. She loved creating special memories her children would remember for years to come, such as taking family vacations to Florida, Myrtle Beach, and Aruba. Maureen also had a third child with four legs, her little shadow, the late Heidi. Heidi was the family's pet, however she turned into the lump on Maureen's chest, her sidekick whenever she left or entered a room, and slept soundly at her side.
Legacy
While Maura and Francis were growing up Maureen tried to involve herself as much as possible. She always made sure the family was together for dinner in the evening, as well as coach Maura's volleyball team with no previous experience, just that she wanted to support her daughter. She worked as a lunch mom in her kid's school, and she always welcomed their friends to her home. It was important to Maureen that her family felt comfortable and loved in her home and that extended to their friends as well. She always invited family and friends over for holidays, celebrations, and casual get-togethers. She loved to cook for the people she cherished closely and paid attention to the smallest details someone told her. If you told Maureen there was something special you enjoyed, even just once, she would bring the entrée into the rotation of her many recipes. She loved having her family over for dinner on Sundays to spend time, often making her Famous Gravy.
Maureen was often active in her children's schools. For example, she was a known "Carnie" at the St. Margaret's School Carnival while her kids attended the school. Any time she could volunteer to help others, she would immediately take on the task. She was an active member of Infant Jesus Parish- St. Margaret's RC Church, loving to spend her Sunday morning at church with her new found "church buddies". She loved to spend time outside tending to her garden as she grew Hydrangeas and her beloved Hostas. She loved to be able to express her creativity in many different ways, but especially through crocheting. Maureen loved to crochet blankets and hats and gifted them to her family, friends, and even people she only knew briefly. Maureen had so much compassion for people around her, if she wasn't gifting a handmade blanket, she was going to give you a card. Maureen's loved ones remember fondly the many cards she had given them and how much she loved giving a heartfelt card. She combined her gift of creativity with her love of cooking and baking as she made delicious baked goods for her people, whether it was at work or the neighbors across the street, and making sure leftovers were shared amongst friends and family. Maureen truly enjoyed spreading love and compassion to those around her, she would do anything to put a smile on another person's face.
Maureen will be remembered fondly for her compassionate, loving personality, and her heart of gold.
