Obituary of Bertha R. MacDowell

Bertha R. MacDowell (nee Zane), of Sewell, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. She was aged 96 years.

Legacy

Bertha, affectionately known as “Bert” to all who knew her, worked as a secretary at New York Ship in Camden, NJ where she met her future husband Ray who was a welder making battleships after serving in WWII. Bert enjoyed traveling with her husband around the country and camping in their motor home for many years. Bert also enjoyed gardening, counted cross stitching, crocheting, reading and was an excellent homemaker and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her later years, she enjoyed going to dinner every Sunday with her son Raymond and daughter-in-law Donna and going to the hairdresser every Thursday. She was an amazing and delightful little lady who always had a smile on her face.

Family

She is the Beloved wife of 56 years to the late Raymond P.; loving mother of Donna (William) Wright, Nancy Hinson, and Raymond S. (Donna) MacDowell. Grandmother of Raymond S. MacDowell, Jr., Zachary Wright, Kevin Hinson and Paige Hinson. Great grandmother of Mason, Jameson and Gabriella. She is also survived by her sister Kate Haines. She is the sister of the late Norman Zane and Edward Zane. She leaves behind nephews and nieces and friends.
