Kathy and family,
John was one of the first Rotarians I met when Roy brought me to our meeting. His kindness, sense of humor and devotion to his family will be what I remember of him. He was a true Rotarian, always showing up when needed. He was an inspiration to many. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Kathy, I'll always remember him NOT saying you were his guest at Rotary. We'll all miss him.
Fondly,
Maureen

Mrs. McGuiness and family,
I am so sorry for your loss and for the loss of one of the kindest and amiable people to ever touch my life. I first met Mr. McGuiness in 7th grade when he coached me for the St. Margaret's softball team. He was so patient and kind, especially since I was not the most talented of players. As a life long member of the parish, I would see John almost every Sunday. He was always interested in how my life was progressing and always had a warm smile and an attentive ear. Later, after I married and had a daughter he he offered my husband and daughter the the same warmth on every occasion we saw him- and there were many besides church- the carnival, the swim club, Phillies games and even at the house of my uncle when he passed away. He truly was an icon in our church and one of those people I truly cherished and appreciated. I cannot imagine how much you will miss him, but as I feel he was a saint in life, I know he is in heaven. God Bless all of you. I will keep you all in my prayers.

My heart is breaking for you, I can't even imagine how lost you must feel.
I pray you find some comfort knowing John is God Hands and resting easy.
My memories of John mostly take me back to St. Margaret's Carnival... who can forget, well over,
25 years of laughter brought on by John's antics...
How could we ever forget him and the special kind of humor he brought into our lives?
So... Thank you John and Balloons for you my dear friend!

Aunt Kathy, Kim and Kelly,
We are heartbroken that you must endure the unimaginable loss of Uncle Johnny...we are just so saddened...May The Lord surround you with comfort that only He can give.
We are not only grateful for his service to our country, but also for his unconditional service to others in so many arenas of life...anyone that knew Uncle Johnny knows what we mean...
Walt fondly remembers him always lending a helping hand and never missing a family event...he can picture Uncle Johnny playing Santa at Christmas and how he so loved the joy that it brought to everyone around him...so many memories, all of which Uncle Johnny has a smile on his face.
His greatest achievement seemed to be his devotion as a quintessential family man...the love and dedication he had for all of you was pure and unending...what a legacy to leave for his grandchildren.
We believe Uncle Johnny is at peace and was met by our Lord and Savior with the words, “Welcome home my faithful servant, welcome home”.
We love you and will be keeping you close in prayer
In sorrow and with our deepest sympathy,
Walt and Jeanette

When I was 4 or 5 years old, my sister, Irene, took me to the 4th of July celebration at Woodbury High School. At some point, I became separated from her and was wandering the stadium lost. After walking toward the end of the seats, Johnny was sitting there in the second row. Seeing Johnny, I immediately relaxed and knew everything was okay.
I’ve been thinking that this story is a metaphor for Johnny’s life. Whenever you were with him, you knew he was there to help. Whatever the situation, Johnny made life easier. And most of all, you knew you were with a friend!

John and I shared classes at Glassboro State evening college (now Rowan). We hit it off immediately and started a small after hours study group to assist each other (I sometimes wonder if I would have made it through without that help). Through the years after graduation I would bump into John everywhere, at mass at St. Margaret, Phillies games, local sports matches, beef and beers, or walking his dog down Lake Ave. He always had a smile and a kind word and went out of his way to greet you like a long lost friend that he hadn't seen in ages. Most of us, when we leave this world, hope for a ticket to "the big game". I have no doubt that John has earned a VIP Pass. Rest in Peace, my friend.
