Obituary of Richard J. DiPietro
Obituary for: Mr. Richard J. DiPietro
Richard J. DiPietro, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at the age of 71, with his loving family by his side.
Legacy
Rich was born in Philadelphia and was raised in Deptford. He graduated from Deptford High School with the Class of '66. Rich proudly served his Country in the United States Navy. He met and married Barbara Michaels and together they shared 36 years of marriage and raised two children, Nick and Tracey, who they adored. Following his service, Rich's accomplished career mostly involved crane operations and maintenance. His legacy started at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. He and his family then moved to the Philippines for five years, working at the U.S. Subic Bay Naval Base. After returning to the US, the family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, then finally resettled in NJ once again. He went back to work at the Navy Crane Center in Lester, PA and then finished out his career at Atlantic Crane Inspection Service, also in Lester, PA.
Rich was known as "Mr. Fix-it" to his family and friends. There wasn't anything he could not fix. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a very patient and thoughtful man. In his younger days, he enjoyed the occasional round of golf as well as a good fishing trip. In more recent years, he could be found relaxing, watching his favorite Westerns on TV. Most of all, Rich enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always up for a beer, a good meal and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
How does one summarize a man who meant so much to so many people? He was a very special person, never to be forgotten. To leave a legacy means to leave the places you go and the people you meet a little better than you found them. Rich will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, both near and far.
Family
Rich is the beloved husband of the late Barbara (nee Michaels); loving father of Tracey Mangold and her husband Ken and the late Nicholas J. DiPietro; loving grandfather of Nathan and Rayna. Rich is also survived by many other family and friends.
