Michael Wood

Obituary of Michael J. Wood

MICHAEL JAMES WOOD

While there is no doubt that Michael is too young to be gone, there is much to be said about a life so very well-lived.

Michael Wood was compassionate, witty, bright, and strong.  Loyal almost to a fault and a most selfless person; he will always be remembered for his kindness towards others, especially his family and friends.

Michael had an amazing work ethic from the time he was a young man.  No matter what the job was, he made sure that he gave it the effort it deserved.  He made wise decisions, managed his finances, and even bought his own home in his mid-20’s.

Michael would drop what he was doing if anyone needed help.  Big or small, no project was ever too much for him.  He threw himself into every challenge with determination and enthusiasm.  His work was his legacy, and he took that seriously.

He had so many different interests, yet he was very well versed in all of them.   Once Michael decided he wanted to do something, he just went and did it.   He wasn’t bothered with what other people thought, he simply plowed forward, his confidence and skills allowing him to conquer whatever he set out to do.

Whether it was playing with his nephews or riding his motorcycle and handing out candy to kids, Michael found so much joy in everything he did.   Michael was like a “celebrity” to his nephews because he was the embodiment of them.  When he loved, he loved with all his heart.  From visiting with his family to hanging out with his friends, Michael always found time for everyone.

Michael lived his life to the fullest and was in a good place, happy and content.  We will mourn his passing, but we will cherish his memories even more.  We were all blessed to have him in our lives.

Godspeed Michael…

Michael is survived by his loving parents, James and Lillian (nee’ Conrad); dear brother to Michele (James) Tocco and Jennifer (Brian) Touw; dear nephews Zachary and Mason and many aunts and uncles and friends.  Loving grandson to James P. Wood Sr. and the late Kathleen (nee’ Henz), Frances Conrad and the late George.
