These last three months were special as I spent so much time with Uncle Elmer. It was an honor to be at his side during his illness. He will always come to my mind when I watch old movies. But what I will always remember is his love for Aunt Helen, his huge smile, those twinkling eyes, a cigar protruding from the corner of his mouth, and his genuine interest in anyone and everyone he met. Whenever I saw him, he always spent time chatting with me personally. He had a great sense of humor which he shared with others. He loved to laugh and have others join in. At our 25th wedding anniversary, a remark a friend made always comes to my mind when I think of Uncle Elmer: ?You have to go a long way to find a man that is happier than Norm?s uncle.? I was blessed to have him in my life.
Love, Mary

I am very sorry to read of Elmer's passing. I knew him as a friend, 55 years ago, and always had a high opinion of him, and his political astuteness. We would argue about politics, but always remained friends. I now live in Arkansas, but I always read the Courier~Post on line. I am a couple years younger than Elmer, 79and I want to convey my sympathy to his survivors. God be with everyone of you. Elmer is in a far better world than we live in. Harry Crowthers

Dear Helen, You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of loss. I always enjoyed seeing the two of you cruising around the CVS and stopping by to check out my latest pictures of the kids. Elmer was a kind and gentle man who always had a smile. I will miss him! I hope you still come to visit! My condolences to you and your sons. God Bless!
