Obituary of William G. Eggers
William G. “Shorty” Eggers of Mount Ephraim, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 after a fierce battle with the COVID-19 virus despite immense precautions to prevent it. He was 70 years young.
Legacy
Shorty was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was the adored and respected patriarch of the Eggers family. He loved life, he enjoyed summer days in Ocean City NJ, watching the kids in the pool from his deck and singing the wrong lyrics to songs. Shorty was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Eagles. His love of football began while wearing number 15 as the quarterback for the Audubon Green Wave. Above all else, Shorty loved to spend his time surrounded by family and will leave behind a tremendous void in all of our broken hearts.
Shorty was general foreman at the Philadelphia Navy Yard until its closing, where he then went on to be the machine room supervisor at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia until his passing. He was the former Commissioner of Mount Ephraim for 12 years and was a longtime coach and volunteer for various Mount Ephraim youth sports.
