John will always be the big brother of the family and I, as he called me, his little sister. He loved our mother dearly and as a young teenager, planted her a creek garden. He would take the wagon and walk to Pennsauken Creek to dig up beautiful ferns and an assortment of wonderful flowers. The garden grew year after year. About a dozen yrs later, dad moved the luscious 5' ferns to our new house. John loved animals and people and helping others. Again, as a teenager, John volunteered as a fireman until he joined the Navy. He had a great sense of humor as did our sisters Barbara and Wanda. When going to sleep, he would put his shoes along side the bed so he could grab them and run. One night the alarm sounded, and John grabbed "his" shoes, jumped over the fence and ran to the station. It wasn't until he arrived there and the other firemen told him how they loved his red high heels. Yep! Our sisters had replaced his shoes with theirs. I'll miss John and his smile, dearly.
