Obituary of John J. Chaplick

John J. Chaplick, born September 3, 1938 in San Pedro, California has passed away on Monday, February 20th, 2023. He was 84. He was a United States Navy Veteran and was a resident in the town of Wenonah, New Jersey.

Legacy

John joined the United States Navy, serving from 1956-1959. When John finished serving his country, he then became a Police Officer for Medford Township, New Jersey. John also enjoyed working with the youth in Mantua Township; teaching them soccer, helping out with Little Miss Mantua, and other related community activities. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was an advocate for Veterans, which lead him to speak at many memorial and Veterans Day ceremonies as well as civic & professional organizations. John was also involved with the Congressional interviews for the selection of Candidates for the United States Military Academies.

John was a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans since 1976 where he served as State Commander and a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1977 and Post Commander of Post 7679. For more than 30 years, John worked as a Veterans Service Officer for Gloucester County Veterans Administration.

In 1985, John was recognized for all of his hard work and dedication to the Veterans of New Jersey by then Congressman James Florio and a flag was presented to him which flew over our Nation's Capital in his honor.

Away from work, John enjoyed fishing and ballroom dancing

Family

John is the beloved husband of the late Isabelle; devoted father of Charlene Forman, Charles John, Jenifer Wintemberg & the late Kathleen Chaplick; dear brother of Wanda Rotan, Lewis Chaplick, Lucille Phillpis, and the late Barbara Bradbury, & Charles J. Chaplick, Jr .He is survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. John is pre deceased by his parents Charles & Mary and his grandson Eric Foreman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's viewing after 10:00AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in the McGuinness Funeral Home - Washington Township, 573 Egg Harbor Road, (Sewell)Washington Twp., NJ 08080 where his Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Brig. General William C.
