Obituary of Alfred Michael Teodoro

Alfred Michael Teodoro passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 surrounded by his family. 

Legacy

Son of the late Mary and Alfred Teodoro.  Al grew up in Philadelphia, graduated from St. Thomas More H.S.  and Villanova University in 1956.  He then attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and graduated with the rank of Ensign in the U.S. Navy.  He served in the Navy for 3 ½ years in Newport, RI and Key West, Florida.  Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, he taught in the Deptford Twp. School system, and he eventually became the High School Principal. After 15 years of service, he moved on to West Deptford H.S. as a principal and then later assistant superintendent.  While working, he received his master’s degree at Rutgers University.

He became an avid runner and competed in many races including the Broad Street Run, Philadelphia half marathons.  He completed the Philadelphia marathon when he was 60 years old.  He also served on the Board of Hollydell School for children with disabilities for over 40 years, retiring in 2022.  Upon retirement from West Deptford, he started playing golf, a game he really enjoyed as well as the companionship of his fellow golfers.  He also enjoyed exercising and especially reading.  He never lost his thirst for learning.  He subscribed to an educational company and enjoyed the many topics available to him.  Monthly dinners with grandchildren were a highlight since all would participate in the discussions and no one was shy about voicing their opinions.  Al will be missed by those who knew and loved him. 

Family

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (nee Andiario), his devoted children Lisa (David) Glassberg, Michael (Annette) Teodoro and Mark Teodoro; cherished grandfather to Daniel, Matthew & Chelsea Warner, Ryan, Eric & Michelle Teodoro and great grandfather of Hannah & John Warner and is survived by many nieces, nephews & friends. Predeceased by brothers Kenneth, Richard, and daughter in law Patricia Teodoro.

Funeral Services

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at The Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street, Mantua, NJ from 9:30 – 10:45 am followed by Mass at 11:00 am.    Interment at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 240 South Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown, NJ 08094.

Donations made be made to Hollydell School, Attention Marcy, 51 Charles III Drive, Glassboro, NJ 08028.
