Obituary of Paul J. Boerner, Sr.

Paul J. Boerner Sr, of Pitman, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family on Thursday, July 27, 2023.  He was 76.

Legacy

Paul was born in Philadelphia and raised in Deptford and has lived in Pitman for 30 years with his family. 

Paul is preceded by a lifetime of accomplishments and accolades, friendships made both personally and professionally and was the epitome of a public servant. Paul’s career spans well over 50 years of total service between law enforcement and the fire service. Paul began his law enforcement career with the Pitman Police Department, followed by Deptford Police Department before retiring from the Glassboro Police Department as a highly decorated Det/LT in 1999. Paul held many hats throughout his career, but none more near and dear to his heart than his time as a K9 officer with his beloved K9 partner “Duke.”

Paul expounded upon his expertise and became a Fire Investigator following his retirement from the Glassboro Police Department.  Paul was heavily involved in the IAAI (International Association of Arson Investigators) where he was responsible for teaching and mentoring hundreds of up and coming Fire/Arson Investigators from both volunteer/career Fire Departments as well as Police Departments at the local, county, and state, and federal levels. Paul was also a proud member of Pitman Fire Company # 1 and held the position of Borough Fire Marshal. Paul was also a member of the Free Masons.  

Paul was the definition of unconditional love, cherished his family on insurmountable levels and much like his career, proudly held many hats as a Husband, Father, Pop-Pop and friend. 

Paul loved spending time with his wife and family. He loved family vacations in the Outer Banks and sitting around the fire having a cigar with his son-in-laws. He loved being a Pop Pop. He loved camping, fishing and watching the kids play sports. He enjoyed family dinners and the simple things. 

Family

He is the beloved husband of 29 years to Terry Boerner (nee: Towles); loving father of Amanda Racan (Ryan), Heather Casoli (Tony), April Flamma (Matt); loving father of Stacey Clair (Dan) and Paul Boerner Jr and their families. Beloved Pop Pop to Brody, Maxton, Alaina, AJ, Maddox, and Audrey. Brother of Michael and Jay Hauss and their families.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Paul's Memorial Service.  The Memorial will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023,  from 12 PM to 2 PM in the McGuinness Funeral Home - Washington Township, 573 Egg Harbor Road. Funeral Service will begin at 2 PM.
