Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Jacob
Mary Elizabeth Jacob (nee Uhlein), longtime resident of Woodbury Heights, passed away on December 15th, 2023 at the age of 89.
Born to the late Joseph and Margaret (nee Sears) Uhlein on November 29, 1934. "May" grew up in Philadelphia, going to Little Flower High School, where she sat 1st chair for her school band playing the trombone. Growing up, May met the love of her life the late Eshia "Jake" Jacob, who she spent a loving 55 years with. Jake and May loved to listen to live music and go out dancing, specifically to the Jitterbug. They bonded over their love of Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, and their equal values of family, community, and respect for one another. May has been a dedicated member of Saint Margaret's Church for over 50 years. She made many friends through the church, and within her community, such as the "Vanderbilt Crew".
May was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Uhlein, and is remembered by her siblings Thomas (Phyllis) Uhlein and Joan (Jack) McCormick. She is the loving mother to Christine (Rocco) Grady, Matthew (Laura) Jacob, Denise Iadanza, and Nancy Ogbin. Cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren, Michelle (Tom) Meighan, Ron Hall, Joshua Hall, Deanna (Kevin) Linahan, Angela Jacob, Zachary Jacob and Gia Grady, great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren, Tommy Meighan, Scout Coyle and Oli Linahan, and loved by her devoted son-in-law Jeffrey Ogbin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
May was a force of nature, she was strong-willed, independent, compassionate, and always willing to help anyone who needed it. She will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend May's visitation in church from 10-11am, followed by an 11am mass at Infant Jesus Parish-St. Margaret's Church located at 845 3rd Street, Woodbury Heights NJ 08097. May and Jake will be reunited in burial immediately following the funeral mass at Gloucester County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, located at 240 Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown NJ 08094.
