Obituary of Dorothy Rita Stagg

Dorothy Rita Stagg of Glassboro, formerly Northeast Philadelphia, passed away on May 11th, 2024 at the age of 90.

Family
Born to the late Anthony and Clorinda (nee Ciarrocchi) Vallorani on July 1st, 1933. Dot is the beloved sister of the late Edward Vallorani. Growing up, Dot attended South Philadelphia High School. While living in Northeast Philadelphia, Dot would often help out with her family's pizzeria "Val's Pizza". In 1953, Dot found herself working for Link Belt Cranes in Philadelphia. While working there, she joined the company's bowling team where she met the love of her life, the late William Stagg (2012) of a loving 57 years. The pair became inseparable, eventually marrying in May of 1955. Bill and Dot decided to share their love and welcome three loving children into their lives, Denise (Tony) DiRienzo, Mark (Lorraine) Stagg, and Dawn (Carl Jr.), Vandergrift. Growing up, the house was full of love, laughter, and the smell of Dot's delicious cooking. Everyone remembers fondly how much they loved her meatballs and gravy, vegetable soup, but most importantly her baked tomatoes.

As they began to prepare for the next chapter of their life, the two of them moved to Glassboro New Jersey in the 1990's and opened a Rita's Water Ice stand up until 2002.  Dot's world became a little bit brighter when she became the cherished MomMom of Alexander (Kaitlin), Nicholas (Emily), Chris (Alicia), Nick (Audrey), Ryan (Marisa), Kyle (Erin), Tiffany, and Wyatt, and the beloved G-Mom of Melody, Lilly, Parker, Graham, Liam, Landon, Weston, Vincent, Hunter, and Nolan. Dot's compassion for those around her was incomparable to others. She loved with her entire heart, and loved her family dearly.

Legacy
During Dot's life, she had many different passions. She loved to bowl, go out dancing with her beloved husband, go shopping, and spend time with her cousins in their Cousin Club. Dot looked forward to the Cousins Club, where everyone got together and spent quality time with one another. Dot's happiness came from being surrounded by the people she loved the most, her family and friends. She also loved attending services at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in Wenonah, NJ and has been a parishioner since the 1990's.

Dot is remembered fondly as a kind, compassionate woman who loved fiercely and selflessly.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Dot's name to Holy Nativity Lutheran Church, Wenonah NJ.
